CHAPTER 2
It took Andy a moment to work through his surprise as his mind registered what was happening. Andy heard a door slide open and voices but was in too big a shock to register any spoken words. As Andy was about to stomp on whoever’’s foot it was that had him in a death grip he felt himself being lifted from the ground by his knees. Andy kicked his feet but someone had already grabbed them too. The death grip was tightening and he couldn”t even breathe, not to mention scream. Andy felt himself start to faint from lack of air, and felt himself being lifted higher in the air and then nearly dropped onto a seat. The grip loosened slightly, only enough for him not to pass out. All the while he could hear voices and occasional laughter as if they were all completely at ease. Andy managed to utter one barely audible word, ”Please.” He saw Alan’’s face before his then. They were moving. Alan looked at Andy with a mixture of lust and menace. He had something in his hand, Andy couldn”t look down to see what it was. Alan lifted his hand and Andy saw a glint of metal. Andy immediately stopped struggling, fear rendering him immobile. He heard himself whisper again: ”Please.”
”Shut up, Andy!” It wasn”t said loudly but it was even scarier than if Alan had yelled it at the top of his voice. Andy felt tears roll down his cheeks.
”If you keep quite and still I won”t have to use this, understand?” Alan asked conversationally.
Andy nodded.
”All right, Brewster there’’s gonna let go of you now. You”re not gonna scream, are you?”
Andy shook his head as much he could.
”Alright Brew, let up a little.”
Brewster let go of Andy’’s throat and he gasped for breath while quietly sobbing. Andy’’s eyes were adjusting to the dark and through his tears he could make out what was happening around him. Brad-Lee and Brian were riding up front, Brad-Lee driving and Brian riding shot gun. There were a couple of 3-seater seats adjacent to each other with lots of floor space between them. Alan sat in front of Andy, the other guy next to him. There was another 3 seater behind Andy where Brewster sat. Alan got up and moved to Andy’’s side. Brewster roughly pushed Andy to sit against the window, Alan taking his old place, and motioned for Andy to lean in to him. Andy hesitated but saw the look in Alan’’s eyes and leaned over. Alan slid his arm around Andy’’s shoulder, pulling him in to him like a lover would, all the while whispering to him and kissing his forehead.

”Ssh, baby. It’’s all right, hon, it”ll all be all right.” Alan squeezed Andy’’s shoulders, pulling him deeper in to him, then continued, ”There’’s no need to cry,” he kissed Andy’’s temple. ”Come on, quit the waterworks.” He said it gently but it only made Andy cry harder. ”I said, quit it now!” It was said more forcefully with a shake of Andy’’s shoulders.
Every ounce of Andy went in to stopping himself crying further. Soon he was only sniffling every now and again.
”That’’s better. See? There’’s no need to be scared, ”cause we”re friends, aren”t we? And friends don”t hurt each other.”
When he didn”t reply Alan nudged Andy gently in the ribs before adding, ”Mmh?”
Andy nodded.
”Good. Now relax, we”ll be there in no time.” Alan kissed Andy’’s temple again then said, ”Hey Brad, turn up the radio.”
Andy suddenly realised everyone had gone quiet in the van. His eyes were looking for the knife. It was on the seat opposite next to the familiar face he couldn”t place. It was out of his reach on a good day, which for Andy this certainly wasn”t. Andy decided on a different tack. His voice still raspy from the tears, he asked: ”Who’’s he?” It came out as barely a whisper. Andy cleared his throat. The vibrations against his chest must have alerted Alan as he said for the radio to be turned down.
”What’’s up, baby?”
God this guy is whacked, Andy thought. ”I said who’’s he?” Alan saw Andy looking at the man sitting opposite and Andy felt him chuckle. Andy’’s back started aching from his awkward sitting position.
”Where’’s our manners? This here,” he nodded to the man, ”is Jason. The rest you know.”
So there were five of them, Andy realised. Five against one. Clearing his throat, he said to the Jason, ”You look familiar. Why?”

”I had him come into the shop a few times, check out the place and find some stuff out, but quite discreetly.” Alan said.
So that’’s where he knew him from. Andy realised then he”d seen him around the shop a lot.
”What things, Alan?” Andy asked shakily.
”Ah nothing major. You know, just try and get a glimpse at the schedule, see when you were working and so on. No big deal.”
Andy felt a cold chill go up his spine then.
”So then you didn”t just “pitch” up at the mall tonight? You knew I was off today when you asked me to join you guys Tuesday, and you followed me to the mall tonight.” Andy felt light-headed as realization dawned on him. Alan had been stalking him all along.
”Don”t make it sound so cheap, Andy.”
”And all those other times, they weren”t just coincidental run-ins, were they?” Andy asked jadedly.
”No hon, they weren”t. But I needed to gain your trust, didn”t I? And let’’s face it, Andy, you don”t let someone in easily.”
Andy remained silent a while before clearing his throat again.
”Why all the man power?”
”Speak up, babe.”
”I said why all the muscle?” Andy’’s voice came out louder than he”d intended and he felt Alan tense up next to him.
”What do you mean?” Alan asked, his voice void of emotion again.
”Why get all these guys to grab me? You could easily have done it yourself if you wanted to. Why the gang?”
Bruce answered Andy with blood-curdling iciness.
”When have you ever heard of wolves travelling alone? Always in packs.”
Then Andy understood. They were like a pack of predators, attacking their prey as one strong beast. All the while Jason sat staring at Andy, blinking occasionally.
”Tell him to stop staring at me,” Andy told Alan. Alan’’s head shot up. He stared at Jason as if only noticing him for the first time.
”Oh, him? Don”t worry your pretty head over Jase there. He’’s harmless, ain”t he Bri?”
Brian turned around and gave a knowing smile but didn”t say anything.

Through all this happening around Andy, and with a plan forming in his head, Andy noticed that all the men in the van were what he”d consider to be good-looking. Although the psycho aspect tended to dampen one’’s opinion, Andy still noticed their appeal. Alan with his olive skin tone that spoke of a European blood line, Brad-Lee with his light black complexion and sturdy musculature and Brewster with his football player physique. And then there was Jason with his ”American Psycho” appeal and Brian with the whole boy-next-door look happening with his toned, boyish body. It all made for one fucked up, good-looking group of men, Andy thought. And they were men. There wasn”t one who looked to be under 23, with Brad-Lee taking the top spot at about 25 or 26.
They”d been driving for a while, and even though Andy couldn”t see out of the darkened windows, he knew they”d be hitting open road soon. So for his plan to work it would have to happen soon. Andy wanted to get them all talking and distracted so that when he hit they”d be unawares. Andy straightened up from his leaning position on Alan for the pure fact that the pain in his back had started making it difficult to breathe. Alan pouted but Andy ignored him, and said, ”How do you all know each other?”
”The less you know, the better for you,” came the reply from front.
Andy looked up and stared in to the bluest eyes. He looked away immediately. No, he thought, Brian was just like the rest of them, no different and no better.
”What does it matter, if you”re gonna kill me in the end?”
Almost everybody in the van laughed at the matter of fact tone of Andy’’s voice. Brad-Lee was saying something about who said anything about killing anybody when alive was much more fun, but Andy wasn”t listening. As everyone else listened to Brad-Lee, the van came to a stop, presumably at a robot and Andy knew this was his one chance at making his plan work. Bolting over Alan so fast even surprising himself, Andy yanked the door handle and tried to scramble all the way over Alan and make a run for it.
Andy heard a ”Jesus Christ” somewhere from the front and tiers screeching. A massive gust of air entered the van and Andy could feel someone’’s hand on his back pressing him down. He felt fingers hook between his belt and jeans and someone pulling on his feet. Andy kicked his feet and elbowed the arm on his back and was almost home free when he heard someone yell ”Slow the fuck down!” The force of the brake threw them all off balance as the door yanked itself closed from the force. Andy was lying face down on the floor of the van with Alan on top of him, and by the sounds of it Brewster was thrown halfway on top of Alan.
”Mother fucker!” came Brewster’’s voice. Andy was suffocating from all the weight, the pressure applied on his lungs too much. He must have passed out because when Andy came to he found himself gagged, bound by his wrists and feet with handcuffs to the seat. It took Andy a few seconds to come to.
”It’’s awake!” Jason exclaimed sarcastically. Andy squint his eyes as the whole situation came back to him. Then he remembered what had happened. He looked around him and saw Alan’’s broken lip, an annoyed expression covering his features. He then noticed Brewster’’s bruised face and hand, and for a moment felt a small sense of victory which wasn”t long lived as Andy took in his very pissed off expression.
”What the fuck were you thinking?” this from Alan, ”You could have been killed!”
Andy wanted to say something but felt his skin stretch around the tape across his mouth.

”He wasn”t thinking!” Brewster shouted, ”the fucker wanted to kill us all with that stunt.”
Andy just blinked and stared down at his hands.
Alan’’s voice was calmer as he said, ”Well I can tell you this much, you”re sure as hell gonna pay for that little performance.”
Andy swallowed the bile that threatened to rise up and choke him.
Nobody said anything for the remainder of the ride. Andy wasn”t sure any more how long they”d been driving, but it felt like ages. Jason was still staring at him, but Andy had started ignoring him. His sheer panic at the beginning had now turned in to fear. The question that had remained at the back of his mind which he refused to think about had started fighting its way to the front of his mind; what was going to happen to him? What were they going to do to him? Andy was no expert, but he knew Alan’’s dramatic mood changes were a sure sign of mental illness. Not to mention the psycho that sat opposite him eyeing him up like prime beef. Just then Andy saw Alan look at his watch then say: ”Won”t be long now, sweetheart.” Alan gave him such a sweet smile that Andy almost retched.
A few minutes later Andy felt the car swerve a bit to the left and come to a stand still. Jason slid the door open and jumped out followed by Brewster. Alan leaned over Andy and was fiddling with the keys to the cuffs when Brewster poked his head back in, staring at the baseball bat lying underneath Jason’’s vacated seat. Then looking Andy in the eyes warningly, he said, ”You need any help, Al?”
”Nah,” Alan said, making a point of eyeing the knife that was tucked in a carry pouch hanging from his belt loop. Then looking over at Andy, he said, ”I can handle it.” With that, Andy heard a click of metal and felt Alan’’s arms moving behind his back and under his knees, scooping him up like an injured child. Almost immediately Andy’’s knees and arms started cramping from the blood flow returning to his limbs. Brewster must have taken it as a form of struggle, as his whole body was charged and ready to come down on Andy in a second’’s time.
”Ssh baby. It’’s alright,” Alan cooed. He carried Andy down a footpath that led to the door of a wood cabin, the crunch of gravel piercing in to Andy’’s consciousness as Alan held him tight. Andy noticed a dim light shining through the windows and a heavy door with a knocker on it as they approached. Andy saw as they stepped through the door that it led in to the living room/bedroom. There was a huge couch and matching throw rug in front of a fireplace. In the other corner of the room, next to the windows and close to the door stood a queen size bed with a headboard nestled between two nightstands. A navy comforter and mountain of pillows covered the bed. At another end of the room were two doors. A light was shining through one key hole. Alan walked over to the couch and gently laid Andy down on the soft cushions. Andy felt like his body was being swallowed by the cushions as his body sank in to it. Alan sat down on the ground next to Andy. He took Andy’’s arm in his hands and started vigorously rubbing at the joints of his elbow and wrist. He took Andy’’s other arm and did the same, all the while staring deep in to his eyes. Andy noticed Brad-Lee fiddling with something at the fire place as Brian approached with a glass of water. Alan hunched over Andy and ripped the tape from his mouth wincing from the sucking sound it made.
”Sorry, my baby,” Alan said as he took the water from Brian. He motioned for Andy to sit up slightly and held the glass to his lips. Andy moaned as the lukewarm water spilt over his dry lips and hit the back of his parched throat. He gulped at the water and coughed as a bit of water went down the wrong channel. Alan backed the glass away and leant over Andy to rub his back gently as he murmured, ”Easy there, love,” and settled him back in the couch. The heat from the fire Brad-Lee had started was seeping through Andy’’s cold face and was heating up his chilled body. Andy heard a door opening somewhere then heard Jason saying, ”Bathroom’’s open.”
Alan brought his face closer to Andy’’s and said, ”You need to use the loo, hon?”
Andy considered for a moment then nodded as he started straightening up. As Alan helped him to his feet Andy keeled over as more cramps shot through his legs and thighs but Alan caught Andy before he fell to the ground. Alan waited for the cramps to subside before he continued helping Andy to the bathroom.

When they reached the bathroom Andy heard Brad-Lee yelling from the other side of the room ”You need any help in there, Princess?” His quip earned him a chuckle from Jason and Brewster. Andy shot him a look of disdain as he entered the bathroom and closed the door with a loud thud.
”I”ll be right here, baby,” Alan’’s voice came from the other side of the door. It was said affectionately but with an underlying warning tone.
Andy closed his eyes and leaned against the door dejectedly. When he opened them his eyes scanned the room for windows, finding only one tiny window with metal railings covering it from the outside. Andy moved over and sat on the toilet’’s lid, looking around him. A white tub with rust on its inside had a shower head sticking out from above. Then there was a small basin and the toilet he was sitting on. Apart from a few towels and toiletries, the bathroom was bare. Andy got up and splashed some water over his cheeks. When he stared in to his reflection in the tiny mirror above the sink he was shocked at the pallor in his cheeks. Andy shot to the toilet just in time to spill his guts down it. He retched until it felt like there wasn”t anything left in him. He rinsed his mouth a few times and swallowed mouthfuls of water before he heard the knock on the door.
”You almost done, buddy?” came Alan’’s voice.
Andy had stalled for as long as possible but knew he couldn”t delay going back in to the room any longer. When he opened the door Alan was standing in front of it, his eyes big. He looked Andy up and down before saying, ”You alright, Andy?”
Andy was getting fed up with Alan and his sick games. First he kidnapped him, then bound and gagged him threatening to do all sorts of awful things to him, and then he has the cheek to act concerned?
”What do you think?” Andy spat sarcastically. If Alan was irritated by Andy’’s answer, he didn”t show it.
”We made some hot chocolate. Two sugars, just the way you like it, baby.”
What the fuck? Andy thought. How the hell did he-
”How the hell do you know how I like my drinks?” Andy asked as Alan led him back to the couch.
”I know you, Andy. We all do.”

Andy looked around him. Brad-Lee, Jason and Brian were sitting on the floor around the fire and Brewster was on the couch. Alan sat Andy down next to Brewster and then plopped down next to him. Their relaxed demeanours unnerved Andy more than if they”d been pacing around the room chain smoking while juggling knives. Andy supposed it was because he knew they were ready to strike at any moment, despite their relaxed state. As Alan handed his cup to him Andy finally got the nerve to ask, while keeping his eyes downcast, ”What do you want from me?”
Alan cupped Andy’’s chin in his hand and pulled Andy’’s face toward him, locking eyes before he said, ”To be with you.”
Somehow having had his suspicions confirmed weakened Andy’’s resolve. Andy had no doubt in his mind what Alan had meant by those words. He looked at everyone then, and said, ”All of you?”
”Eventually,” came Brewster’’s voice.
Andy wanted to cry then, his bravado fading.
”You never question destiny, Andrew.” Alan’’s voice was barely above a whisper. He cleared his throat before saying, ”Come one, finish up. You feeling better?” Alan studied Andy for a moment then said, ”Some colour’’s crept back in those cheeks, hasn”t it guys?” Alan was answered by a few disinterested grunts.
Andy thought it beyond messed up, sitting around talking about him like they were all best friends but he didn”t want to aggravate Alan again and make things worse, so he nodded and took another sip of his chocolate.
”Good. You done?” Alan took at the cup in Andy’’s hands and passed the cup to Brewster. He then leaned over Andy, slipping his arms beneath him like before and scooped him up from the couch lovingly. Brewster and Jason got up then and followed them over to the bed, the rest staying where they were. Alan laid Andy gently on the bed, his head and back resting against the fluffy pillows. Alan lay down next to him, propping his head on his hand. He smiled down at Andy before saying, ”Just relax, ”k? It’’s gonna be fine.”
Andy couldn”t think of anything to say so he just nodded. He looked up to see Jason holding two bags, handing one to Brewster and fiddling with his own. Alan pulled Andy’’s face to his, and said, ”Don”t mind them, ok? This is our time together. This is all about you. Don”t think of anything else.”
He sounded so sickeningly sincere to Andy. Andy was really getting worried now.
”Alan, please buddy. Look I know you”ve planned this whole evening and you are expecting things to happen, but please. I”ve never done anything like this and I want my first time to be with someone special to me who”ll be a part of my life forever.” Andy was crying at that point.
Alan looked at Andy as if considering what he”d said. He lifted Andy’’s hand from his side and kissed it lightly before saying, ”I know you”re scared, and I realise this is your first time with someone. You”re special to me, Andrew, and by sharing this part of yourself with me we”ll always share a special connection that no one else will be able to compare to. I promise you”re gonna love this just as much, alright?”
”NO!” Andy yelled at the top of his voice before jumping from the bed.
He leaped across the room at lightning speed and had reached the door before anyone came near catching up to him. Andy fumbled with the lock on the door when he felt someone trying to grab his arms. Andy elbowed the person in the face. He felt the teeth tearing through the skin of his elbow and heard ”Mother fuck-” before feeling a fist connect with the side of his head so hard his head shot forward and hit the doorframe with a dull thud. Andy crumbled to the floor and was only aware of the pain shooting through his head as someone pulled on his hair. Brad-Lee pulled Andy’’s head back and Andy closed his eyes in anticipation of the impact when he heard a distant voice yelling, ”No!”
